A gang of young men attacked a car and subjected its driver to racist abuse in York.
It happened between 11.05pm and 11.25pm on Saturday (16 July) on Water Lane.
A group of men aged in their late teens stopped a small red car.
They then kicked and hit the car, causing damage to the bodywork.
One of the offenders struck the vehicle with a large stick.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The victim tried to engage with the group but was subjected to racist abuse.
“We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“In particular, we are appealing for information from anyone in the area at the time who witnessed the incident or could identify those involved.”

Police have issued descriptions of three white men they want to speak to:
- Man 1: aged in his late teens, approximately 5ft 4ins (1.65m) tall, slim build with short light brown hair. This man was wearing blue jeans, orange short sleeved top and a dark body warmer.
- Man 2: aged in his late teens, approximately 5ft 6in (1.7m) tall, chubby build with short black hair, shaven around the sides. This man was wearing a black top and black bottoms.
- Man 3: aged 30-40 years, around 5ft 9ins (1.8m) tall and of medium build. This man had short brown hair and walked with a purpose. He was wearing black shorts and a white T shirt.
