Travellers have set up camp on a school sports pitch in York.
They have moved onto the All Saints School pitch off Sim Balk Lane.
Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward councillor Stephen Fenton said on Facebook: “A large volume of cut vegetation has been fly-tipped in the nature area nearby, which is managed by York College.
“If anyone comes to your door offering to cut back trees or hedges, please ask to see their waste carrier licence and ask how the cut vegetation will be disposed of.
“Better still, contact a local business to do the work.”
He said City of York Council neighbourhood enforcement officers visited the site on Friday and served a ‘direction to leave’ notice requiring the travellers to leave by 8.30am today (Monday).
“If, as seems likely, they have not left by that time, it’s likely a court order will be needed,” Cllr Fenton added.
