Firefighters were called out to reports of a bus on fire in York early this morning (Wednesday).
Crews from Acomb and York responded to the call on Acomb Road at 5.49am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival they found a single decker bus with overheated brakes.
“A hose reel jet and thermal image camera were used to cool and monitor the brakes.”
The incident follows 21 First York electric buses being withdrawn from service. It is a temporary measure while a fire at a depot in London involving six Metrodecker buses – as normally used on York Park&Ride – is investigated.
