A motorbike was torched near a York school late last night (Monday).
Firefighters from Acomb were called out at 10.22pm.
The fire was in the wooded area off Lumley Road, next door to Clifton Green Primary School.
When they arrived, the fire crew discovered the motorbike well alight.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire caused 100% fire damage to the bike and the crew used 2 knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire.
“The cause is thought to have been deliberate.”
It was the second deliberate fire in York last night. A dog walker spotted a fire in woods at The Outgang, Heslington.
York firefighters were called out at at 5.41pm.
The spokesperson said: “After locating the fire the crew were able to extinguish it with a bucket of water and beaters. Again the cause is thought to be of deliberate origin.”
