Two men fell into the river in York early this morning.
It happened shortly after 2am. Police officers on the scene found a man had fallen about 20ft into the River Foss off Piccadilly.
He was stuck on a ledge out of the water.
Police called the fire service. A crew from Acomb went to the scene and found two men had been in the water.
While one man had managed to get out and onto the bank, another was still in the water.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire crews rescued him using a 9m ladder and he was left in care of paramedics on scene.”
