A new street food and craft beer venue has revealed more about its plans for a York city centre site.
We revealed last month that Bundobust, which sells vegetarian and vegan Gujarati street food, wants to move into Piccadilly, taking over the old Argos building.
Now it has submitted a planning application with further details.
Bundobust already has thriving venues in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester. To create its York food hall, it wants to knock through the old Argos and William Hill shops on Piccadilly.
It also wants to replace the shop fronts with something new.
“The proposal is to join the two existing units by forming an opening at ground floor between the two spaces,” say planning documents.
“The existing retail and betting units will then be fitted out as a restaurant with bar, serving food through the day and evening.”
The lower ground floor “will be utilised for storage and possible the prep kitchen and toilets”.
Drawings show a long bar in front of an extensive kitchen.
There are more than a hundred seats for diners, grouped around large and small tables.
Bundobust opened its first branch in Leeds in 2014, then added others in central Manchester and Liverpool in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Last year, it opened a second Manchester site including its own brewery.
Bundobust describes itself as a “game-changing and critically acclaimed enterprise” and a “beacon of successful casual dining in the North.”
