Sweet news – the York Chocolate Festival is returning after two years.
And it will be bigger and better than before. The event will be larger with a more broadened focus, encompassing York’s entire chocolate and confectionary heritage.
The York Food Festival team have helped to grow the festival with the assistance of Make It York.
York Chocolate Festival will be on Parliament Street from Thursday 14 to Monday 18 April 2022.
Founder Sophie Jewett, of York Cocoa Works said: “Following two years of sending Easter eggs far and wide for our customers, it’s exciting to be able to look forward this year to welcoming so many visitors back in person to this year’s York Chocolate Festival.”
Highlights include:
- Parliament Street Market – More than 40 stands will feature everything from chocolate creations and specialist chocolate, to cakes, brownies, and other bakes items as well as chocolate flavoured drinks and liqueurs.
- Festival Bar – Try a range of dessert cocktails and chocolate gins from The Yorkshire Explorer at the York Chocolate Festival Bar, as well as Zzinga who will be showcasing their unique Honey Cider.
- Chocolate Making – have a go at making your own Easter Egg! York Cocoa Works will be running their unique and welcoming workshops.
- Chocolate Sampling Trail – Discover sweet samples from retailers and other artisan producers across the city.
- Demonstration Area – See some of York and Yorkshire’s most talented chefs and chocolatiers at work.
- Tasting events – For the adults there will be chocolate pairing events like chocolate and wine and chocolate and whisky matching.

The festival will feature chocolatier Ashley McCarthy from Channel 4’s Extreme Chocolate Makers, who will be showcasing one of his extraordinary creations – with a York twist!
Ashley will be demonstrating how to make a bit of his sculpture day by day, while you can view the finished creation nearby.
Food festival director Michael Hjort said, “We have truly bounced back better with both more chocolatiers and a more diverse program.”
