The York Spring Fair and Food Festival is returning to York Racecourse for a second year – and will feature a special celebration for the Platinum Jubilee.
The festival made its debut in May last year and welcomed over 25,000 visitors. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better with ten days of funfair, food and entertainment.
There will be a stage hosting live music, even more vintage funfair rides and over 40 traders and street food stalls already confirmed.
As it takes place over the Platinum Jubilee weekend, there will be a special programme of entertainment – including the lighting of York’s Jubilee Beacon.
The York Spring Fair and Food Festival will take place from Friday 27 May to Sunday 5 June in the Clocktower Enclosure at York Racecourse.
The lighting of York’s beacon will take place on the evening of Thursday 2 June – and will be part of the UK-wide lighting of Platinum Jubilee Beacons.
Continuing the celebrations will be a Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 5 June where there will be a variety of food and drink stalls to suit all tastes!
Create your own picnic before relaxing on the provided tables and benches and enjoy some live music from popular local bands such as Huge, Y Street Band, Hyde Family Jam and New York Brass Band as well as Welsh sensation the Old Time Sailors.
Daytime entertainment will be provided by ‘Just Josh’, aka York entertainer Josh Benson. His live family show will combine magic, juggling, balloonology and bags of fun. Catch his show on the stage four times a day.
A DJ will also be on hand in the evenings to get that party atmosphere going!
Co-organiser of the event, Johnny Cooper said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s event and making it the centre of York’s Jubilee Celebrations.”
There will also be over 15 vintage funfair rides to have a go on.
Tickets for the festival are already on sale and start at £5, with children aged 12 and under going free. Tokens for funfair rides and game stalls are at an additional cost.
