A well-known country hotel in North Yorkshire has closed after a fire.
Fire crews were called out to the Mallyan Spout Hotel in Goathland at 2.38pm yesterday (Tuesday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On their arrival the first attending crews found a building well alight and requested additional resources.

“Crews from Whitby, Goathland, Scarborough, including the aerial ladder platform, Robin Hood’s Bay and Lythe attended.”
They put out the fire but the spokesperson added: “The incident remains open at this time with revisits planned on the 5th January.
“Fire investigation officers will also be attending to begin investigating the cause.”
Guests transferred
The Mallyan Spout, a three-star country house hotel with 20 bedrooms, is now closed.
Guests who were staying there have been transferred to the nearby Inn On The Moor Hotel.
In a statement, the Mallyan Spout said: “So we have had a fire here this afternoon, details of which are yet to be confirmed but we have suffered some damage to a small part of the building.
“All staff and guests made it safely out of the building and no one has been injured, which is the most important thing. This does mean that until we can assess the damage and see what we are up against we will be closed until further notice.
“We will be contacting anyone who has reservations with us.
“We thank everyone for their well wishes and of course our amazing fire service and a massive thank you to The Inn On The Moor for looking after our guests.
“Also to our staff, you are simply outstanding and we love you all.”
