A new shop is taking shape at York Station – and it is all about local food, drink and gifts.
York Gin are opening a new shop in the train station, just in time for the Christmas rush.
It will sell their award-winning tipples of course – and much more.

Bosses are expecting a rush on cold gin and tonics (perfect for the train) and boxed sets of miniature bottles – which make great souvenirs and last-minute gifts.
And the shop will also stock food boxes prepared fresh each day by York’s Pairings wine bar.
A range of local beers and products made by small local businesses including soaps, key rings and greetings cards will add to the shop’s York credentials.
Six Living Wage jobs
City woodworkers PurePallets and local printers York Digital Image are helping to recreate the look and feel of the original 16th Century shop on Pavement.
The plan is top open on 22 November.
The shop will create the equivalent of five to six new full-time jobs. Initial opening hours will be 9am until 9pm, and may change depending on demand.
LNER approached York Gin earlier this year as part of a programme to make their train stations feel more unique.
York Gin co-founder Pete McNichol said: “It’s fantastic that LNER are trying to give the station a local feel, and encouraging independent companies like York Gin. Our shop will help to give the station a truly York feel.
“It’s brilliant that we’re creating new employment opportunities in York.
“All the jobs are paid the Living Wage and come with great prospects, working for a company that wants to do the best for its people and the planet. We’re also delighted to be showcasing other brilliant local businesses on our shelves.”
The shop is in prime location in what was the West Cornwall Pasty Shop – one door leads to the station concourse, the other to the main entrance.
