Purpleman walked through the pain barrier to raise an ‘absolutely incredible’ sum for charity, it was revealed today (Monday).
After finishing his 114-day marathon slo-mo walk along Shambles in York earlier this month, York’s most colourful character handed over a cheque at York Hospital.
He raised a whopping £10,033 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity.
“I’m proud of the people of York and all the amazing visitors to our wonderful city,” PM said.
“It’s not just me, it’s a team effort with all the lovely, independent traders of the Shambles as well.”
Lucy Clegg, from the Y&S Hospitals Charity, was thrilled with the donation. “It’s absolutely incredible – the fact that over £10,000 has been put into buckets, by people from Europe, people visiting York, and it’s all coming to the hospital here.
“What’s really important is it will be spent in York Hospital to make everything that we do here just a little bit better for staff, for patients, for the friends and families that come and visit people.

“And we can’t say thank you enough to Purpleman – it’s brilliant.”
The fundraiser extraordinaire had already disclosed he’d lost two toenails during his slow motion Shambles marathon. But that wasn’t the only pain barrier he had to go through.
“What I didn’t tell you is that I performed the whole 114 days through a hernia – but it’s OK.
“When we get the purple bedsheets ready, I might be in York Hospital for a check up!”
