A York city centre hotel is celebrating after its restaurant was nominated for one of the hospitality industry’s most sought-after awards.
Galtres Lodge’s Forest restaurant has been shortlisted in the category of ‘Hotel Restaurant Team of the Year’ in the prestigious Hotel Cateys 2021.
Organised by The Caterer magazine, the Hotel Cateys seek to recognise the most successful hotel operators in the UK and their employees. Nominees judged by a panel of their peers and industry experts.
As one of only three shortlisted finalists, it is a fantastic achievement for the small team, who have worked tirelessly to ensure their business delivers an exceptional guest experience post-lockdown.
After a refurbishment, and with a reimagined menu designed by the well-known chef Stephanie Moon, Forest, on Low Petergate, has become a destination for foodies.
The evening menu includes a rack of local lamb from Swains Family Butchers plus veg for £19.75, and Whitby, Staithes, & Bridlington Crab Thermidor for £19.50.

The hotel recenlty welcomed an experienced general manager, David Macdonald, to the team.
Providing close guidance to the restaurant team, David’s influence has been integral to helping Forest achieve and maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction, leading to its eventual recognition as a Hotel Cateys 2021 contender.
Other nominees in the same category include The Bridge and the Vicarage in Cheshire and Goodwood: Farmer, Butcher, Chef in Chichester, with the overall winners set to be announced on 19 November 2021 at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel.
