Meet the finalists…
Simon Grace
Simon is the general manager at Hotel Indigo in York.
He has worked hard over the last year to keep his team updated on what’s happening in the business and to ensure that staff have a comfortable return to work.
A boss whose door is always open, one person who nominated Simon said: “He helps the team out every day with extremely busy breakfast shifts before even starting his own workload.
“He is constantly working late to make sure we are fully staffed and that guests can enjoy their visit to the city.
“He has given myself the confidence to do my role to the best of my ability.”

Julie Nutbrown
Julie works for the NHS with patients with learning disabilities.
A boss who has worked throughout the pandemic and goes above and beyond to help her team, Julie ensures an exceptionally high standard of services are delivered to all patients.
One person who nominated Julie said, “Julie is always there to listen to the team and never too busy to give her time.
“Julie is so positive and brings this to the whole team. Her work and dedication ensure the whole team do a fabulous job too.
“[She has] worked for the NHS for many years making a difference to so many people with additional needs, resulting in the best for all patients with disabilities.”
Tory Hardy
Tory is the director of Water Babies North & East Yorkshire.
She has worked tirelessly through lockdown to preserve the jobs of her team, while facing both personal and business challenges during lockdown.
One person who nominated Tory said, “Tory has supported not only us but our whole families through this pandemic – whilst still managing to keep her business alive.
“To say she has powered through is an understatement!”
Tory also trained up as a volunteer vaccinator and has been supporting the vaccination efforts in York.
