Today sees the start of the first Adult Learning in York Week.
Organised by adult learning providers across the city, the event will include a series of one-off learning events, including sessions on British sign language, identifying transferable skills and a family-friendly morning aimed at lone parents.
Cllr Darryl Smalley, City of York Council’s executive member for culture, leisure and communities, said: “Having opportunities to continue to learn, develop and grow throughout our lives is so important.
“Adult Learning in York Week represents a great opportunity to showcase some of the fantastic learning opportunities for adults in York, delivered by a wide range of organisations across the city.
“With everything from sessions on information technology to skills workshops, painting and drawing, crafts and medieval knights, there really is something for everyone.
“I’d urge residents of all ages to get involved and see what’s on offer. These courses represent a great way to meet new people, develop career-related skills, or simply start a new hobby.”
The week runs from 6-12 September. Find out more here.
