The grassroots group York Creatives are bringing some new nightlife to the city.
They have hired out Shambles Market for an evening on Friday 20 August from 7pm to 10:30pm to host a ‘Night Market’, in conjunction with The Market Cat and Make It York.
Artists and independent traders will take over the market for the evening, and there’ll be street food and drinks available among the creative hub.
Confirmed traders for the Night Market include artists, illustrators, textile makers, jewellery makers, wood carvers, handmade soap and candle manufacturers, sculptors and ceramicists, and vintage clothing boutiques.
Some of the traders in attendance will be Lucy Hook Designs, Bags and Blep, York Printmakers, Ooey Gooey Bakes, Wild Owl Designs, Be So Soaps, York Zine Fest, and many more.

“We hope the Night Market can become a regular feature throughout the spring and summer months, bringing in exciting artists and independent traders from across the north of England.”
The Market Cat will be serving a range of speciality beers from their outdoor bar, featuring their flagship beers Jaipur IPA, Green Mountain, and other craft offerings.
General manager George Merry said: “Our three-story building will be open for the event, where guests will be able to find a selection of wines, spirits and other beverages.
“Our amazing selection of real ale is also available with over twenty-two lines of quality cask and keg choices on offer, drawn from our unique top-floor glass cellar.
“Alongside our beer, we are proud to offer a selection of artisan hand-made pizzas, baked in our very own stone oven.”
