North Yorkshire Police Traffic Bureau have caught some drivers doing speeds of up to 120mph over the Bank Holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.
Officers said they saw people travel at over 100mph while they were out on patrol on roads that were classed as 60mph routes.
120pmh is almost as fast as an Azuma train, two miles a minute!
Police said it had been an extrememly busy weekend with many examples of excessive speed in villages and residential areas as well. They saw drivers and bikers doing 50mph in 30mph zones and up to 62mph in 40mph zones.
They warn that not only are vehicles using these roads but also lots of walkers and cyclist too. Officers descibed it as totally unacceptable and they would take action where they recorded this kind of behaviour.
