Many Yorkies haven’t heard of it – but those in the know made a beeline for this restaurant as soon as the easing of lockdown rules allowed.
Tucked away on a suburban housing estate, Buongiorno Bistro has nevertheless climbed above its better known city centre counterparts to be rated number one on TripAdvisor.
It had reached those dizzy heights a few months before lockdown came. A consistent five-star rating from reviewers placed it first among 594 York restaurants reviewed on the site.
The Sardinian restaurant describes itself as a “small family business, creative, authentic, very fine ingredients mixed up with your fish and meat”.
And since reopening, the Italian restaurant on Acomb Wood Drive has consolidated its league-topping status, with people queuing up praise it to the skies.
“It’s exceptionally brilliant, if you like fresh food, cooked well, with a great service, eat here,” said reviewer Richard Luscombe after his visit last week.
“I have eaten all over York and UK. These guys have nailed it. Quality fresh produce, cooked well, with great flavours and the service is second to none. If you don’t try it and eat here you are and will miss out.”
Max D agreed: “Absolutely unreal, the food, the drinks and more than anything… the incredible service.”
“Buongiorno York is among the best that the city of York has to offer – hidden away in Acomb but so so worth the trip,” wrote another user just three days ago.
So if you’re looking to hit the culinary heights, head to Acomb!
