It’s hardly a surprise, given it’s not stopped raining since May arrived.

But the Environment Agency has issued two flood warnings for York.

Warnings are issued when “flooding is expected – immediate action required”.

The River Ouse at Naburn Lock “is expected to continue to rise steadily throughout this evening, Friday 21st May, reaching approximately 3.4m tomorrow afternoon, Saturday 22nd May” says the warning.

And riverside properties in York city centre are also affected. “The flood warning for riverside properties in York has been issued as levels are rising following recent rainfall. Consequently flooding of properties, gardens, roads and paths is possible today,” says the warning.

“The River Ouse in York is forecast to peak at roughly 3.4m tomorrow afternoon.”

There are also two flood alerts, one for the Lower Nidd Catchment Area, and the other of the Upper River Ouse.

Here’s the forecast for the next few days.
