A specialist sniffer dog that can detect explosives was brought in to check out a suspicious package in York today (Tuesday).

Police officers and firefighters were called out to a property on Manor Court off Hull Road at 12.29pm after the package started leaking a sticky substance.

The package had been moved outside on to the street, and the area was cordoned off.

Isla, the specialist explosives sniffer dog, was then brought in to check out the substance.

Fortunately the liquid proved to be nothing more harmful than… olive oil! And the emergency services – and Isla – were stood down.
