More than 200 golfers took part in the Lord Mayor of York’s Charity Golf Day, which raised more than £4,000 for good causes.
The event, at Pike Hills Golf Course, Askham Bryan, saw players take on the 18-hole course, while observing the Covid restrictions.
The successful team taking home the Lord Mayor’s Trophy were Hentons B, finishing with 100 points.
But it was Phil Kelly who garnered all the praise with the competition’s first hole in one in its 14-year history.
Phil achieved it – his first – on the par three seventh hole.
The retired Nestle employee and member of Pontefract and District Golf Club, was delighted to receive The Greg Love Award (sponsored by Rowley & Sons) from Pike Hills club captain, Mick Yates.
Altogether £2,800 was raised for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity, the Two Ridings Foundation. A further £1,500 was donated to York Against Cancer from the proceeds of a raffle on the day.
