Ah, the memories!
One of the latest films to be released by the BBC from its Yorkshire archive takes us back to a time of power cuts, flares and Valerie Singleton on Blue Peter.
“York is railway mad,” says Valerie, in a report from the children’s show first broadcast in 1974.
“It’s one of the few places to allow steam-hauled specials. Today the Flying Scotsman is heading to Scarborough.
“Even in this York is keen to keep its past alive.”
So wallow in some unashamed nostalgia – and look out for the fabulous aerial footage of the locomotive steaming through North Yorkshire.
