York Gin has revealed plans to open a shop at York Station.
The company is planning to move into to the unit formerly occupied by the West Cornwall Pasty Shop on the station concourse.
It will be in addition to the popular York Gin shop on Pavement in the city centre, which reopened after lockdown last week.
Train operators LNER would be leasing the unit to the local company.
According to its licensing application, the station shop’s operating hours would be 9am to 9pm daily.
Pete McNichol, co-founder and commercial director of York Gin said: “We hadn’t really thought about a shop in the station before but it’s fantastic that LNER are trying to give the station a local feel, and encouraging independent companies like York Gin to establish themselves in the station.
“It would really give the station a truly ‘York’ feel. We look forward to hopefully receiving a positive decision on our application in the coming weeks.”
