Police have spoken of their frustration at those who flout Covid rules after breaking up a house party in York.
Officer ScouseCop921 tweeted that he had been patrolling the city with neighbourhood policing teams last night (Sunday).
He said: “Another Covid patrol finished and another house party interrupted. It is so frustrating why people think it’s ok to mix with different households.
“Another 13 breaches at a single address. It is just selfish behaviour.”
Under coronavirus laws, individuals found in breach can be fined from £200. Large parties can also be shut down by the police – with fines of up to £10,000.
ScouseCop921 said: “I often think the money is sometimes a side issue…
“I just don’t understand why people don’t just do the right thing. Short term sacrifice for long term benefits.”
York police say they have stepped up their patrols in recent days. NYP York City on Twitter said they had increased their visibility in the Navigation Road area, following “increases in anti-social behaviour”.
They added: “Over the last week several people have been reported for breach of Covid legislation.”
