Another 142 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 20 January).
It takes the cumulative total to 10,232 – giving an overall infection rate of 4,925.5 cases per 100,000 people.
In the last seven days 781 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 489 (-38.5%) week on week.
The rolling seven-day rate in York is 423.5 new cases per 100,000 people (892 cases in the week to 16 January). That’s down from 657.1 in the previous seven days (1,384 cases in the week to 7 January).
The English national average is 497.3, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 260.3.
There have been four more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 23 in the last seven days (up four / 21.1%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 270 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 23,735 – an infection rate of 3,884 cases per 100K.
There are 1,507 cases in Ryedale (up 19), 3,808 in Selby (up 42), 6,163 in Harrogate (up 79), 3,348 in Hambleton (up 46), 4,796 in Scarborough (up 25), 2,039 in Richmondshire (up 23) and 2,344 in Craven (up 36).
There were seven more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
That takes the total to 441 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
