It’s December, the month of treats!
So when better to launch a shop and café dedicated to nothing else?
Wonderful Hot Chocolate opens with the lifting of lockdown tomorrow (Wednesday).
It is in the former home of Patisserie Valerie in the Coppergate Centre – opposite Jorvik.
There are drinks for chocolate lovers, kids, and grown ups. You can choose from a hot chocolate for £1.99, hot chocolate orange – with marshmallows and chocolate orange segments – for £2.99, hot choc salted balls for £3.49, and more.
Grown-ups can add a boozy measure of brandy, Baileys and more to their chocolate drink for £1, or they might prefer mulled wine.
But be quick: it’s only here for one month!
Spreading festive joy
Wonderful Hot Chocolate is a pop-up for Christmas, brought to us by Phil Pinder and Ben Fry – the same team behind The Potions Cauldron on Shambles.
They have taken the lease on the Coppergate store in order to transform it into a new fun golf attraction, the Hole In Wand.
That will open next year. In the meantime, they dreamed up the choccie pop-up.
Phil told YorkMix: “With the lack of a Christmas market this year, we hope we can help spread a little festive joy with our menu of chocolatey treats and mulled drinks.
“We have all the Covid-19 measures in place to keep customers safe.
“When will close in January, it will be just six weeks until we open our brand new family attraction The Hole In Wand Wizard Golf, with preparations for the mid-February opening already in full swing (pun intended)!”
Wonderful Hot Chocolate will open daily 11am-6pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am-7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
It closes for good on 3 January.
