York vehicle hire specialist Autohorn Fleet Services is celebrating after taking delivery of the 100th pure electric car in its fleet.
The green milestone arrived with the delivery of a BMW i3. Hybrid, self-charging and electric vehicles now make up over 25% of its fleet.
Autohorn Fleet Services also has seven of its own electric charging points across York.
Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular as company cars as they enjoy a zero per cent benefit-in-kind tax rate and, “with several other government initiatives, they are not only better for the environment, but also better financially,” said managing director Lee Underwood.
Autohorn Fleet Services’ commitment to supplying electric vehicles has seen them awarded ‘Go Ultra Low Company’ status.
This means the company is publicly recognised for including electric vehicles on its fleet, and is a leader in low emission business motoring.
Executive member for the environment and climate change on City of York Council, Paula Widdowson, said: “Autohorn have shown real commitment to furnish their customers needs and protect the environment by providing an exciting new green fleet. Well done.”
