Police today issued an update on the incident which saw a car enter the River Ouse.
Emergency services were called to Skeldergate Bridge at 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday), after reports that the vehicle had entered the water.
The car was recovered from the water at around 1am today (Thursday).
The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The car had no other occupants inside.
“An underwater search of the area was carried out to check for any other people, and officers are satisfied at this time that there were no other occupants.”
York Rescue Boat also assisted in the search.
The scene has now been cleared.
Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances that led to the car entering the water.
