York’s weekly coronavirus rate has fallen again.
The latest figures from Public Health England have shown York’s weekly rate fell to 1.4 new cases per 100,000 population in the seven days to 18 July.
In the week to 11 July the rate was 2.9 per 100K. The previous week it was 3.3.
The latest data puts York at 254th out of 315 authorities – although there are 19 areas joint last with no new cases at all, including Ryedale.

Blackburn with Darwen is in first place – the rate has jumped from 47.7 in the seven days to 11 July to 78.6 in the seven days to 18 July, with 117 new cases recorded.
Second on the list is Leicester, where the rate has gone down from 125.6 to 73.8, and where 262 new cases have been recorded.
The area with the highest rate in Yorkshire is Bradford – it recorded 41.1 cases, up from 36.1 the week before.
