A York hotspot will be checking its customers hotspots from the weekend.
And if you’re showing signs of a fever, you’ll be politely shown the door.
The Terrace on Fossgate has installed thermal imaging cameras as part of its safety measures ready for reopening at 11am on Saturday (4 July).
Anyone showing a high temperature will be checked with a digital thermometer. If they are clocked with a fever temperature – 38°C or above – they will be refused entry.
The new rules
In a Facebook post licensee Paul Gardner and wife Kim set out the other safety measures at the sports bar.
These include:
- table service only – “there is no standing/service available from the bar, it is strictly table service and seating only… which massively reduces our capacity”
- taking the details of one guest in each group to assist NHS track and trace – “we will take a photo of your ID (passport / driver’s licence/ Prove It card) which will be stored on our iPad with the date and time logged for 21 days as requested by government guidelines”
- social distancing, including in the loos where “there will be a maximum occupancy of two people at any one time with a one-in one-out policy to be followed”
- a one-way system in the pub – entry via the front door, exit via the side door.
The couple said: “We look forward to welcoming you all back with a smile and are working really hard behind the scenes to ensure we get this right!
“Please be patient with us & please remember that not a single member of bar staff is suddenly an expert in disease control, politics or even the policies of their own Pub Co.
“So when 20 of you show up to finally go out on the lash after three months of lockdown, it’s not the minimum wage bar-person’s decision to tell you no, but they HAVE to anyway.
“Things will get back to normal, just not straight away. Please be patient with us and show some common sense.”
