Much of one of York’s main car parks is out of action this morning (Wednesday).
About two thirds of the spaces in Monk Bar Car Park are coned off.
There is no explanation as yet as to why this is, or how long it will last.
A spokeswoman for City of York Council said: “The car park is open but about a quarter to two-thirds is coned off due to the extra disabled bays being painted today.
“These extra spaces and the newly procured shuttle service will be operational from tomorrow.”
It was announced earlier this month that an additional 40 disabled parking bays have been allocated for Blue Badge holders in Monk Bar.
That was part of widespread changes to parking in York introduced as part of the city’s post-lockdown recovery strategy.
City of York Council also announced limited free parking in a number of council-owned car parks, including Monk Bar, starting on 4 July.
