Detectives in York are appealing for witnesses and information about a robbery which occurred on a riverbank at 1.30am on Friday (11 October 2013).
The 19-year-old local victim was walking home alongside the River Foss on Huntington Road – directly opposite the entrance to Lowther Street – when he was grabbed by two men and forced onto the ground.
They stole his Samsung mobile phone, iPod and headphones, the hooded top he was wearing, cigarettes and a small amount of cash.
The men then rode off on bicycles in the direction of Huntington.
Police enquiries remain ongoing to trace the suspects and the victim is receiving support following the ordeal.
One of the suspects is described as about 6ft tall, aged mid-to-late 30s, medium build with a thin face and a small amount of stubble. He was wearing a black hooded jacket with hood up. The jacket had blue detail across the front. He was also wearing black trousers or jeans, and possibly training shoes.
The second suspect, who was also about 6ft tall but with a thinner build, had his face covered with a black balaclava-type hat. However, he appeared to have blond facial hair – possibly a moustache and goatee beard – which was visible through the balaclava. He was dressed in dark clothing.
Detective Constable Alicja Wdowiak, of York CID, said: “This incident is very concerning and we are working hard to track the suspects down.
“As part of our enquiries, I am appealing to local residents and visitors who may have witnessed the incident by the riverbank on Huntington Road during the early hours of Friday morning.
“I also need to hear from people who can possibly help to identify either of the men from the descriptions, as well as anyone who noticed two men riding bicycles in the area around at around this time. Please come forward without delay.”
