Thriving York-based print and online publication Soundsphere magazine has released a digital, interactive version of their latest issue.
The alternative magazine’s increasing popularity, due to their diverse coverage of the northern music scene and beyond, has allowed them to digitalise their third issue.
Featuring York metal band Asking Alexandria as well as American heavy-hitters The Gaslight Anthem this version of the magazine will be available to purchase from the Apple app store, priced at £2.99 (search for term Soundsphere mag), functioning with both iPhone and iPad.
Android owners will also be able to download the issue through the Readr app.
Soundsphere’s editor Dom Smith said the digital version was something he’d always wanted to do. “I feel like this will open us up to loads more people, and there are some really exciting possibilities for us to explore as we look at more interactive ways to engage with our dedicated readership.”
The magazine teamed up with Jack Casling of York creative advertising agency Choir Of Vision to get the issue ready for digital consumption.
“Working on the digital version of Soundsphere magazine has been a blast. Dom and his team are people who I have been hugely excited to collaborate with,” Jack said.
“Being responsible for kicking off the magazine’s IOS presence is an honour. Long may it continue!”
Beginning as a DIY online publication working with bands of Yorkshire’s key music centres of Sheffield and York, the magazine developed a loyal following. Through print releases and a successful website, its contributors now travel to cover key festivals from Exit in Serbia to SXSW in the US.
