Spellbinding York shop The Potions Cauldron has enjoyed a magical start to 2020.
In the first couple of months of the year, its figures were up 123% on the same period in 2019.
This is particularly impressive given that York has been hit by storms, flooding and now concerns over coronavirus.
As well as selling its magical drinks from its shop on Shambles, styled to resemble an ancient apothecary, The Potions Cauldron also supplies the range to the likes of Hamley’s toyshops, Center Parcs and Merlin Entertainment.
‘Anything but normal’

Founded in 2018, the Potions Cauldron completed a record breaking week’s trading period in February, beating any previous seven-day period, including both Christmas 2018 and 2019.
The Potions Cauldron co-founder and director of wizardry Phil Pinder said:
Our success is really down to our customers and the enjoyment they gain in the experience of visiting us.
We essentially retail drinks, but the way we do that is anything but normal, and purely an experience of magic.
It’s great to hear the comments and reactions that our products and store both generate.
Phil continued, “I think as people share their experience of visiting our store, this just generates more interest and intrigue.
“The products speak for themselves, and the theatre we provide in-store, coupled with excellent value for money, leads to the viral way our story is spreading.
“People discover our products in places all over the country, then plan visits to York based on the products they have purchased.”
The Potions Cauldron are looking to launch a new non-drink in time for Easter 2020 which they help will continue the propel the company forwards.
