York Restaurant Week is back, with more venues, and food and drink offers starting at £5.
Last year saw the inaugural York Restaurant Week go down a storm.
Organised by the York BID (Business Improvement District), the event encourages diners to venture out during a quieter time of year.
For 2020 York Restaurant Week returns, bigger and better – with more than 60 restaurants participating from 2-8 March across the city centre.
They have put together special offers for £5, £10, £15 and £20.
Try something new
Participating restaurants are hoping that diners will step outside of their comfort zone and try something new during the week.
The initiative is co-ordinated by BID business manager Chris Bush. He said:
-
We’ve added a £5 voucher this year to extend the range of options. So diners can choose from offers ranging from a coffee and cake to a full three course dinner.
This is a great opportunity for those who work in the city to have an affordable lunchtime treat, or for families and friends to dine out together without breaking the bank.
Among the newcomers taking part are
- Grön Kafe
- Fish & Forrest
- Manahatta
- the Fossgate Tap
- Tank & Paddle
- the Old House
- and Zaap Thai
Several of York’s luxury hotel’s are also putting forward a range of offers.
Tarik Abdeladin, owner of Los Moros on Grape Lane, said. “Last year Restaurant Week was a very useful event, which gave us the platform to get locals to come and give us a try and helped us to put our name out there.
“I believe it is a fantastic opportunity for local people to come and sample some of the best restaurants in the city.”
How it works
To take advantage of the offers, diners register for the offer they would like at the York Restaurant Week website.
Here they can find the details of all participating venues and fixed price menus of either £5, £10, £15 or £20. There is no limit to the amount of offers they can access, and vouchers are completely free to download.
Customers are advised to book ahead – every restaurant has a limited capacity and offers are anticipated to be popular. Booking a table is a sensible step to avoid disappointment.
Offers range from Grilled Cheese Sandwich (inc. vegan option) + 1 filling plus any hot or soft drink for £5 (Fortyfive Vinyl Cafe) to a three course dining experience for £15 (Carluccios) or enjoying a Sparkling Afternoon Tea for £20 (The Grand).
Vouchers are valid until 8 March 2020.
