The York BID is celebrating the 25th anniversary Residents Festival with a massive York Gift Card giveaway.
The York Residents Festival is a chance for residents to explore the city and be a tourist for the weekend for free.
Organised by Visit York the festival is a way of saying thank you to residents for the warm welcome they give to visitors each year.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary, the York BID are giving away 400 £5 York Gift Cards during the 2020 festival.
Where to go
These cards can be spent in more than 220 businesses in the city centre including the gift shops and cafes of some of Yorks best-loved tourist attractions which open for free to residents during the festival.
The first residents to arrive at the Visit York Visitor Centre on Museum Street on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th January will receive a £5 York Gift Card.
On Saturday there are 250 to give away, and 150 on Sunday.
To claim your £5 York Gift Card you need to
- go to the Visitor Centre (open Saturday 9am-5pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm)
- get there before that day’s allocation runs out
- show your YorkCard or student card.

More than 50 attractions and tours now take part in the residents festival, with food and drink and retail discounts also available during the weekend.
York Residents Festival is open to all York Residents and York students who have a valid YorkCard or student ID. YorkCards are available from Explore York libraries – you’ll need one card per person.
The York Gift Card is available to buy from The Potions Cauldron, York Gin or online.
