It is the 25th anniversary of the National Poetry Day on Thursday (3 October) – and Explore York Libraries and Archives are celebrating online and in libraries.
There will be a Tweetathon of poems, and a host of events, readings and workshops at libraries across the city.
Wendy Kent of Explore York said:

Local poets have very generously donated poems to us that we will tweet every 15 minutes throughout the day from 9 am to 4.45pm.
We will also be giving out the poems at all of our libraries.
At the same time we have plenty of opportunities for people to come and listen to poetry, chat about it and even write their own poems.
National Poetry Day is an annual celebration that inspires people throughout the UK to enjoy, discover and share poems.
Everyone is invited to join in, whether by organising events, displays, competitions or by simply posting favourite lines of poetry on social media using #nationalpoetryday.
