York police are appealing for information after two cars were damaged by fire in the city.
The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that they were dealing with a fire at around 4.40am on Tuesday 30 July 2013, on Priory Street, which had damaged a Fiat Stilo and a Vauxhall Combo. Also damaged was a large wheelie bin and a hedge.
Two local men aged 25 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of arson, a short time later on St Benedict’s Road.
They have been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
PC Joanne Theaker, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you were in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity, I urge you to come forward straight away.”
