A cyclist has died after a crash in York.
Emergency services attended a serious collision between a cyclist and a car just after 1am today (Sunday, 14 July).
The collision took place on Stockton Lane, heading away from the city, and involved a black Toyota Auris and a black and gold trim bicycle.
Sadly, the cyclist, a 29-year-old local man, died at the scene. His family has been informed.
A man has been arrested in relation to causing death by driving without due care and attention.
Crews from the York and Acomb fire stations also went to the accident. The road was closed for some time while police investigated.
Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles that night before it happened, or has any dash-camera footage that could help the investigation, to get in touch.
