Issued by City of York Council
Today, Cllr James Alexander, Labour Leader of City of York Council has begun his term as chairman of an influential local government board.
LGNYY brings together Leaders and Chief Executives across the North Yorkshire area to provide leadership and coordination across public services. Local government, fire and police services are represented on the board.
James Alexander said: “I am delighted to accept the position as chairperson for the next 12 months. It is an opportunity for me to support my colleagues across the region to bring the key issues we face to the attention of the Government, particularly on how we bring more economic growth to North Yorkshire.
“I will also work to support more shared working across our sectors and think there is much potential for collaboration over service delivery. As you would expect, I will be promoting York’s economic vision and will look for opportunities to progress its delivery through LGNYY and by working with businesses in York and North Yorkshire.”
