This is what burglars did to a York primary school.
Dringhouses Primary School was broken into overnight on Friday (10 May). Windows were smashed, and a trail of devastation was left in their wake.
On Twitter the school released these pictures, calling the damage ‘shocking’.
The mess is such that the school, on St Helen’s Road, will not be opening tomorrow (Monday, 13 May). It said in a statement:
-
As you may be aware, this weekend school was broken into with considerable damage caused.
The safety of the children and the staff is our number one priority and therefore the school will not be open tomorrow. We will contact Year 6 parents to discuss SATS arrangements shortly.
Also on Twitter, the York South team at North Yorkshire Police – who took the pictures above – said: “A heartbreaking scene for teachers today as they attempt to put this primary school back together so pupils can return to school as quickly as possible.”
It is not know what, if anything, was taken by the intruders.
