Police in York have arrested three teenagers in connection with two knife-point street robberies.
The separate incidents occurred in the Fulford Road area at around 2am today (Monday 8 July 2013).
A 22-year-old man was approached by two teenage boys on Farndale Street who threatened him with a knife and punched him in the face. They made off with the victim’s rucksack.
Minutes later, a 23-year-old man called the police to report that he had been robbed on Alma Terrace. This time two teenage boys and a teenage girl were involved. The victim was punched in the face and a pint glass was taken off him. However, he refused to hand over his wallet.
Officers were quickly deployed to the scene to help both victims and search for the suspects. A police dog and a police helicopter assisted the operation.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested at 2.15am on Wenlock Terrace; a 15-year-old girl was arrested at 2.45am on Blue Bridge Lane; and another 16-year-old boy was arrested on Blue Bridge Lane at 3.15am.
All three remain in custody for questioning.
