One of Britain’s top poetry competitions is back.
The 2019 York Literature Festival / YorkMix Poetry Competition launches officially in January.
But, as a gesture of goodwill and thanks for supporting the event, all previous entrants are allowed to make an early submission at last year’s entry fee rates. [Entries made after January 4, 2019, will be at the new fee level, to be announced.]
The prestigious competition, now in its seventh year, will now be open to international entries for the first time.
The closing date for entries is Sunday, February 24, 2019.
This year’s judge will be announced on January 4.
Entry and prizes
The first prize is £600, with a runner-up award of £150, a third prize of £75 and a fourth prize of £50.
The Helen Cadbury Prize of £50 – formerly The York Prize – will be awarded to an excellent poem from an entrant with a York (YO) postcode.
At the judge’s discretion, up to ten Highly Commended and 15 Commended poems will each win their writer a certificate.
The entry fee for previous entrants (until January 4) is £6 for a single poem or £20 for five poems. There is no limit to the number of poems that can be submitted.
