Staff at Nestle York will benefit from a new gym and dance studio if plans get the go-ahead.
Workers asked for a fitness centre and the confectionery company has applied for planning permission to build the facilities at their site on Haxby Road as part of a drive to promote employee health.
The gym will be exclusively for staff to use and will be open 24 hours a day.
Featuring changing rooms, a fitness studio and wellbeing rooms, there will also be new meeting areas.
Investing in wellbeing
June Clark, wellbeing manager at Nestlé House, said the facilities will be a “perfect addition” to the company and added that promoting staff health is important to the organisation, saying:
-
This type of facility is the natural next step in our strategy to help our employees look after their health and wellness during and around the working day.
It has been the number one request from my colleagues and I am really pleased that we have been able to invest further in employee wellbeing in this way.
Earlier this year, the company also opened a new staff restaurant, reception and meeting area.
A Nestlé spokesman said: “This additional investment at our York site, including a new gym and further refurbishment of Nestlé House, demonstrates how valuable the city is for Nestlé and the importance we place on investing in our employees.
“We are building a vibrant and effective space that supports modern, flexible working habits and delivers the environment that our employees need to succeed at work while managing and improving their wellbeing.”
