A man has been arrested after an arson attack on a York property.
Firefighters from York and Acomb were called to a fire in a ground floor toilet in a residential property in Ramsay Close at 6.32pm on Tuesday (August 14).
The fire had already been put out by the time they arrived. After an inspection firefighters gave the cause of the fire as deliberate.
North Yorkshire Police say that a 35-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing arson with intent and being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
He remains in custody for questioning.
This was not the only incident of arson which took place in York overnight.
Firefighters were called after household rubbish was deliberately set alight in Knavesmire Wood at 2.32am on Wednesday.
The York crew used beaters and buckets of water to put it out.
