Two new eateries have opened up in York – and another is well on its way.
L’Uva is an independent restaurant and wine bar on Bridge Street. Serving traditional Italian dishes and exclusive Italian wines, it had its official opening last Friday (June 1).
From coffee and Italian pastries to salads to pasta the restaurant has a small menu “focused on quality with an aspect of seasonality and our casual dining style offers a relaxed environment to share, savour or just snack”.
They import wines directly by working with producers they have selected.

You won’t find overdone pasta or vast pots of tomato sauce here! If you love proper Italian food and wine with the fabulous service from passionate people, you won’t be disappointed.
Thai kitchen
This is in the property that used to be home to the Akash Tandoori Restaurant.
It has been fitted out with a smart fresh exterior, and describes itself as serving Thai street food.
We don’t have many details about the food there yet. If you’ve been, let us know what it’s like.
Meanwhile, the new Italian offering on Church Street is getting closer to opening.
We reported in November how the team behind Caesars on Goodramgate want to open a new-style of eaterie, called Mezzo di Pasta.
Work on refitting the property, previously home to The Gift Company, is well underway.
When open it will serve hot pasta covered in a range of sauces, both for eating in and taking away.
There will be no cooking on the premises – instead all the food will be made a few hundred yards down the road at Caesars.
