A pedestrian was seriously injured in an accident on a main York city centre road.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Lord Mayor’s Walk at about 7.05pm on Monday (March 5).
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Lord Mayor’s Walk was sealed off by police tape as emergency services dealt with the incident
The road was reopened at about 11pm.

To keep Lord Mayor’s Walk clear while emergency services carried out there work a police car blocked the entrance at the Monk Bar end of the road. At the Gillygate end a mobile police unit was parked in front of the traffic lights.
More police vehicles and an ambulance were positioned at the junction to St John Street – the road that leads to Monk Bar car park.

Cars, cyclists and even pedestrians were turned away by officers. Students going back to York St John University were told to take a diversion.
