It was almost the perfect start to winter.
In fact the snow arrived the day before winter officially began. But the silent white stuff still did a very good job of making York even more festive.
Although there were some serious flurries, little settled. A light coating on the rooftops and the parks was enough to give a Christmas card feel across the city.
