Turning an industrial process into a thing of beauty is not easy.
But that’s just what Karen Turner did with this photograph for York firm Sheppee International.
And the picture has seen Karen shortlisted for the national EEF Photography Competition.
The image, one of a series of glass bottles being made at a factory in Knottingley for Sheppee, caught the eye of judges for the contest.
It celebrates the best photos of manufacturing, and the theme for 2017 is Made In Britain, Loved By The World.
Gritty, hot and noisy
Karen, who is based in Barwick in Elmet and writes for YorkMix, said:
Industrial photography is a very exciting subject to capture and one which I really enjoy.
The environment can be gritty, hot and noisy, and capturing this makes for incredibly vibrant and atmospheric images.
Photography opens so many doors to places and processes I would never normally learn about, and I really enjoyed my shoots for Sheppee International and learning all about their fantastic local business.
You can see more of the Sheppee set of photographs on Karen’s website.
Karen has been nominated for the awards once before, in 2012. The awards ceremony is held at the House Of Commons on December 12.
