Giant Chocolate Oranges appeared above York’s most famous street this morning.
The display turned Shambles, known to many as our ‘chocolate box’ street, into a tribute to Terry’s in the 250th anniversary year of the confectionery giant.
It was all thanks to the team at York’s Chocolate Story. They had been working with the specially created orange inflatables and ladders from 1am in the morning to create the sweet surprise.
This is Chocolate Week (October 9-15) and the King’s Square attraction wanted to do something special in one of the UK’s most choccy cities.
Its exhibition, 250 Years Of Terry’s, traces the story of the confectionery dynasty, who went from selling lozenges in a shop in 1767 to conquering the globe with the Chocolate Orange and other products.
The Shambles surprise comes a year after another great York’s Chocolate Story stunt – when more than 1,000 KitKats were suspended from the pergola walkway at Rowntree Park.
