You can almost hear the clink of expensive glassware and the sophisticated conversation.

This is the first image of what it will be like in The Ivy restaurant when it opens in York this November.

Located on the corner of St Helen’s Square, the Ivy will “offer sophisticated and accessible all day dining to York locals and visitors to the area”.

Specially selected to join The Ivy Collection’s handful of locations outside of London, York was hand-picked due to its vibrant dining culture and thriving tourist trade.

Right across from the Mansion House, now undergoing its own wash and brush up, The Ivy St Helen’s Square will accommodate 120 guests.

There’s space for ten at the brasserie’s bar, and an additional 26 on the terrace.

Chef director of The Ivy Collection, Yorkshireman Mark Askew, will oversee the menu. The kitchen will serve modern British classics such as grilled lobster, shepherd’s pie and a flourless cappuccino cake.

With a bar, terrace and interiors designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the restaurant “will have a quintessentially British feel” and display art representing its York location.

More than 100 jobs

Jon Pinner, general manager at The Ivy St Helen’s Square, said: “We’re extremely excited to bring The Ivy Collection to York.

“Chosen for its heritage, fantastic local community and vibrant tourist industry, it is the perfect location for us.

“We will soon be recruiting to fill more than 100 jobs in the local area, and look forward to opening our doors in York in late November.”

The design for the new restaurant

The Ivy Collection is a group of restaurants, brasseries and cafés established in London.

They began with The Ivy in London’s West End one hundred years ago, now known as the haunt of stars and supermodels.

Menus at The Ivy St Helen’s Square will include including breakfast, elevenses, weekend brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks and dinner, as well as an extensive wine list and cocktail menu.
